I’m not putting any work stuff on by home computer. I’m not giving work admin rights to that.
That may be the way consoles go.
We aren’t seeing the kinds of innovation happening in hardware that justifies dropping backward compatibility and the AAA gaming market hasn’t released games in the quantity they did before.
So Sony and Microsoft can update the hardware in a way to maintain backwards comparability and game companies have the option of developing to the current generation only, both generations with different graphics, or the older generation.
Why? Amazon seems to have built an amazing system with AWS, but does it need the same amount of staff time to maintain it that it needed to develop it?
If Amazon acknowledges that it isn’t going to be developing new products to the scale it did for the past decade, it probably doesn’t need the headcount it had before.
I can live with it.
It kind of does.
You get user lock-in as users buy more games, making it so Steam is always a store to buy from. You can’t deplatform from Steam. At that point, you can’t replace Steam with another DRM platform to pay existing games. That creates a large customer base which becomes a must add for vending new games.
It isn’t a hard monopoly, but it helps create a soft monopoly.
There is already a lot of work in generative game design that doesn’t involve AI, including a lot of procedurally generated items. There is also a lot of bad generated designs as the inputs allowed to be changed are not sufficient enough to create enough variance.
And it was a great early episode where Keiko and Winn had their conflict regarding the school curriculum.
On Keiko’s end, it showed that she had to look for a place on the station and that she was making sacrifices for Miles. It also showed her beliefs the lens in which Federation civilians would look at religion.
On Winn’s end, you see her use of religion for political gain by turning a nothing issue into a conflict on the station. She is acting as a bad priest, using her role mainly for political gain.
but she has absolutely no deference for the fact that she’s married to one of the most hard working and honourable people in the whole galaxy
I think she does, which is why she stays with him and makes make changes and sacrifices to her life to be with him. However, there is a breaking point.
That said, I think she is a good person.
The Nintendo 64 was really the last time Nintendo tried competing on hardware specs for the console market.
After that, you had a major electronics company subsidizing hardware to gain market share and a major software company subsidizing development and software graphics tools to be used also on their computer systems as the two different competitors.
What were your other interests?
I’ve got a lot of transportation, history, travel, and comedy.
I’ve had the same experience as Maalus. I don’t get served right-wing content on videos nor do I get dancing teenage girls.
However, I’ve told YouTube that I’m following about 20 different channels which gives the algorithm a decent idea of what I like and I’ve told YouTube a few years ago not to show me Ben Shapiro videos when it tried once.
I have to ask, if you get right wing videos, do you click on the “Do not show videos like this” button?
I would expect it to look a lot like fashion of the early 20th century for the working class. Clothes would naturally be baggier with greater ability to alter the clothing at certain locations to fit people wearing the clothes. The clothes would likely be made to be more durable on the understanding that undershirts and longer underwear would be worn underneath.
Since clothes would be owned and worn longer, fashion wouldn’t shift as much. You would also see more second hand stores as it was common for the rich to sell or give clothes away to staff once it dropped out of fashion.
Or you had several companies try to start their own streaming services from scratch and thought you needed a ton of new shows to fill it. Disney+ could have easily gotten away with archived Disney Channel shows, all the animated Disney cartoons, the old Star Wars & Marvel movies, and the Simpsons. It didn’t need a lot of the new shows, no matter how cool they looked.
If graphics were with it, people would pay for it.
The fact of the matter is that exponential graphics capabilities requires an exponential input of developer and asset creator budget. Given that there is a ceiling on game prices, it isn’t worth it going for higher fidelity games when the market isn’t going to pay for it.
Yeah, and China’s behavior is very alien compared to the Soviet Union.
Soviet-American relations were created across multiple levels specifically to make sure each side understood the other to help prevent misunderstandings that could lead to war. Some of those communication channels are still functioning today.
In contrast, China chooses obscurity.
I feel like only Admirals Alynna Nechayev and William Ross were the only decent admirals, but then they actually had commands.
It is the hair and the ears.
As bad as how conditions were shown in the Bell Riots, conditions now are a lot worse.
Is it still? The VC funding has started drying up and every tech company has started worrying about profitability now. I think the old innovate or die mantra has played itself out.
And IBM & Motorola diminished in part because they stuck to older industries where cost became as important as innovation and didn’t lower their cost.
